Terry Pratchett

I recently started reading the Color of Magic, the first of Terry Pratchett's Discworld series, and already I'm convinced he is my favorite author of all time. I absolutely love his blend of traditional fantasy elements with some truly creative world building and knee-slapping humor laced throughout. His style is extremely appealing, effective, and easy to read. I want to write like him one day.

The Night's Watch is probably my favorite group... and not just because the main character's name is Sam.

(I own all the Discworld books up to Going Postal. Haven't had a chance to catch the most recent two.)

Yea, just started. I hadn't even heard about it until a friend at work told me and let me borrow it. But I hope to get caught up quick.

It's easy reading, and the books aren't gigantic, so it shouldn't take you long to get through all 35 books.

If 40 books is overwhelming you can read them in 'themes'

City Watch
Witches
Rincewind and Unseen University
Death
Moist Von Lipwig

You do not need to read them all though some do feed into the next.

There are also BBC productions of some - Hogfather, Colour of Magic and Going Postal all of which are awesome. I 'obtained' copies very easily.
