Torn between Willow and The Princess Bride. Not including LotR or the Hobbit cos they are a series of films |

So it has to be a stand alone film not part of a trilogy etc? That's a tough one, can't think of a fantasy film that I'd rate above one that are part of a series. |

Stand-alone, pure sword-and-sorcery fantasy? Yeah, has to be Willow. |

Excluding LotR it's super tough to choose. Live Willow and Neverending Story, but I might lean towards Troy or Dragonslayer. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD |

Can we say Kung Fu movies? I'd like to throw in "Hero" if we can. |

Oh geez, tough one for sure. I mean, of course, there IS the obligatory "precious" films, but not only is that just obvious, but there's also no challenge in naming any of the modern Tolkein films. So, what does leave us with? There's the Narnia films, but I haven't actually seen those. Nor have I read them, being quite the Lewis fan, go figure. I'm digging deep here to find one that is certainly out of the ordinary while adhering to the "typical" sense of fantasy (because fantasy is pretty ambiguous and can be classified as darn near anything - even posts apocalyptic in films like Reign of Fire). I am going to have to go with The Scorpion King, with Conan the Barbarian coming in a close second. Sometimes, you just need yo sit down, grab a brew, and watch what happens when you p*$$ off a 350 lb professional wrestler.... |
