Interesting idea I had while plugging away at some LoL games today.

If WoC were adapted into a MOBA platform, what roles would your characters play? e.g. Top lane, Support, Mid laner, jungler.

What a abilities would they have in this setting?

Here are some ideas for my characters..

Aethan, The Druid:
Roles: Jungler, Mid, Support, Top.
A versatile shapeshifting spellcaster.

Passive: Bound to the Land - Aethan has increased regeneration. Additionally, he recovers faster when in the jungle. This regeneration scales based on % health missing.

Q: Ravage/Maul/Entangle - Ravage in Cat form. Deals high physical damage with a small bleed. Maul in bear form - Lunges a short distance and bites a target enemy for moderate damage, applying a slow that gradually fades over a few seconds. In human form, Aethan calls on the land itself, creating a large area of grasping vines that slow enemies and deal a small amount of magic damage.

W: Shapeshift Cat/Bear/Human - While in cat form, Aethan gains greatly increased attack speed and movement speed. If a target is bleeding or impaired/stunned, he does bonus magic damage based on the enemy's missing health. In bear form, Aethan gains a large amount of bonus health and armor, as well as increasing his passive regeneration after a few seconds in this form and gaining 25% tenacity. Selfcasting (alt+w) this ability returns him to human form.

E: Prowl/Fortify/Equilibrium - In cat form, Aethan enters stealth at a reduced movement speed for 8 seconds. His first attack includes a short pounce. Attacking from stealth gives a bonus to damage and attack speed. In bear form, Aethan fortifies himself against damage. He gains a huge amount of armor as well as a shield of nature energy that grants magic resistance and deals a small amount of magic damage back to attackers. While the shield persists, Aethan's attacks gain a large amount of lifesteal. In human form, Aethan balances the odds by creating a large zone in which health pools are equalized. Enemies' health pools are sapped gradually while they remain in the zone while Aethan and his allies are healed for the amount sapped until all parties are equal in % health remaining.

R: Magic Fang/Crippling Roar/Creeping Doom - In cat form, all of Aethan's damage is converted to True Damage for a short time. Additionally, his movement speed is increased greatly. In bear form, Aethan lets loose a terrifying roar that shakes the earth in a cone in front of him. Those caught in the cone are rooted in fear for 2 seconds, and slowed for an additional 3 seconds after. Attacks targets affected by the roar inflict a moderate bleed. In human form, Aethan casts Creeping Doom on a very large area, calling forth millions of insects in a vast swarm. The zone persists for a long amount of time, slowing enemies that pass through it. Creeping doom does increased damage based on the length of time an enemy stays there. For each second enemies are caught in the field, the damage increases to a maximum multiplier of five times the initial damage per second. After the full five seconds, the slow also doubles as the insects swarm the foe in a frenzied attempt to devour them.

Summary: Rough idea, but he'd be somewhat of a cross between a shapeshifting melee fighter and a supporting mage. Depending on his item build he could have an assassin/bruiser style of play or a utility mage/tank setup. Could be played top lane as either a tanky bruiser (bear), mid as an assassin (cat) or support offering light CC and sustain. I imagine his skill cap would be pretty high as there are so many ways to build him that you'd run the risk of being good at no roles but bad at them all if things went poorly or you itemized him wrong. That being said, there are some interesting combos that would make him fun to play in lane and in teamfights, while staying pretty true to the lore of the character himself. The only thing missing are animal companions, which I had considered could be a free trinket buy at the start of the match which levels up with aethan. He'd have to pick which to bring with him, an owl could offer a castable scrying zone revealing enemies and seeing through stealth with a high CD for example, which would be his "support pet". Perhaps other animals could be called on to give different effects.. a skillshot slow with low damage from a lizard, or maybe a ferret which steals gold on each champion attack.

Wouldn't it be fun to see an entire MOBA based on WoC?! I can think of so many characters, mine and otherwise, that would be awesome in every role. It would be a heck of a lot of fun.

Multiplayer Online Battle Arena.

Think Team Fortress, or HALO.
