New version. So excited, I love this book and the tv series was good but so dated now.

Weird, I just watched the old mini-series the other day on Netflix. You're right, it is pretty dated but not all bad. Be interesting to see what a more modern version would look like. I'd rather see a well crafted HBO version of The Dark Tower series though.

Dated.... I don't necessarily think so. I mean, the book was set in 1977 so the miniseries really hit home on a lot of it. I'd hate to see that after Captain Tripps hits full scale, people are complaining about hot having cell phone service... "Damnit, why can't I Google appendectomy...?"

Not to mention that remakes are one of my pet peeves regarding movies. Rarely EVER does a remake trump an original. Texas Chainsaw Massacre? Sucked. Nightmare on Elm Street? Sucked. There's just too many people remaking movie just for the sake of remaking them, it's like Lucasism on crack!

Some movies just simple do not need remakes. Horror movies are usually in that category.

Both The Stand and IT being remade are largely unnecessary and sure to be, well, somewhat diminished from the originals. Some of those actors are just too immortalized in their roles; Tim Curry, Gary Sinise, Rob Lowe.

Matthew McConoghy as Randall Flagg?? I'm just not sure I'm feelin' that one. Although RF WAS missing his shirt at the end of the book... :-D
