My youngest sister (who incidently I've invited to join our site, and hopefully she will. She's a big geek like me. :)) has recently started playing and now wants to get me and my son into it too. Does anyone play, and is it worth my time to give it a shot? She bought some "dragon" set just for me because I'm the world's biggest dragon-fan so she knows how to lure me in. :P

I play. :) I have a deck built for each color, though my Green Elf and Red Burn decks are the strongest.

Be warned, if you fall into the rabbit hole, the hobby can be as expensive as Warhammer 40K. There's twenty years (yes) of cards out there, and some are expensive.

I was lucky. About fifteen years ago I amassed a collection between gifts from friends and inheriting my father-in-law's collection. Over the years I've spent a whole $3 cash on my cards and I have over 3000. ;)

My decks can be viewed here, though they've gone through slight redesigns since. Still basically the same though.

Whoa. Thanks for the heads up, I'll have to watch for that. I tend to dive in head first with these sorts of things so it could get crazy stupid real quick if I'm not careful. lol

haha, yeah. If you're willing to front cash, look for pre-built decks first. I believe they rate them on difficulty... but don't quote me as I haven't bought any myself. ;)

You can also pick up commons pretty cheaply. My first decks were basically all commons. Easy to learn the game that way; without all the crazy abilities and everything.

Oh and on that front, this wiki is invaluable: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Ma ... g_keywords

I still play on occasion. Wish I still had some of my original run cards.

So my sister came over last weekend and I played for the first time. It's pretty cool! I can definitely see where the addiction can come in. I need to build a deck now...

Oh you're in now. :D Once you build one deck it's like crack... you have to build another. If only to test the other one. Yeah, that's it... test it...
