NO Twilight. True Blood or other romance based types (yes I am talking to you JR Ward) need apply - good old fashioned rip out your throat horror only.

I read two excellent series when I was working at the bookstore.

The Strain (about to be a TV series by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan

I loved the book Dhampir (fantasy/vamp genre) by Barb and JC Hendee. Highly recommend it. Been meaning to pick up the next book in the series.

I once bought a box full of Anne Rice novels, and loved most of them. After that, I can't remember reading many vamp stories I enjoyed. I did read Fevre Dream, because George R.R. Martin wrote it, but it didn't leave much of an impression.

Dracula( yes, Bram Stoker, from the 1800s) was phenomenal.

Also, the only Anne Rice I liked at the time was Memnoch the Devil...dont care for this kind of thing so much
