Forum rules

These forums are dedicated to coordinating guild meetups in MMO's around the net. If you guild up in these games please use the guild tag "WoC" to represent our community!

We have started with stickies for some of the more popular games. If you play another MMO then post about it, and if it gets enough interest we'll stickify that too. There is the potential to have dedicated sub-forums for specific games should enough interest demand it.

Your games, your forums, your turn.

So a friend of mine got me into this. I noticed it was suggested in my "suggest me a game!" thread from a year ago. Well, I'm on now. ;)

If anyone is interested in running dungeons, my main is currently a level 5 Dwarf fighter. Roterkase. Feel free to HMU, though my play times are sporadic and varied.

Eventually I might remake Gretch on this... but I'll need to unlock Halforcs first. :?

Trying to play it completely F2P, but I may end up buckling down and dropping the $7 for Premium...

...need to unlock half-orcs? Haven't looked into this game so that statement makes me a little edgy. *goes to look things up*

What can you play for free anyways?

http://ddowiki.com/page/Races - Human, Halfling, Dwarf, Elf.

http://ddowiki.com/page/Classes - The only classes that you need to unlock are Artificer, Favored Soul, and Monk.

Ah thanks :)

Meant to post to indicate I'd already looked it all up, but you beat me to it.

Any other Caenyrites...Caenyer's...Caeny..

Any other WoCers play this one? And if so, which server? :)

*has already downloaded and made account* :wizard:

I played it ages ago, when it was first released. I believe I actually purchased a legitimate, honest-to-goodness boxed copy of the game. Now that's old-school....

Well, considering it's a ten year old game now... ;)

I stopped playing a while back... seems it's hard to get me to stick with a game these days. DDO was just too... something. Hard to put my finger on. I think a big part was that I got to level 5 or 6 and just... couldn't advance further. The dungeons I had to do were too hard, and the repeats weren't giving much in the way of XP.

I have friends there, but they are super high level... granted, they have lowbies and helped me with equipment... but meh.

It was also pretty clear that it was not really F2P, but Freemium. I have a thing about never paying a dime on my games (beyond initial purchase... I'm old school like that), so I tried to do the same. Found out you pretty much can't. :?

Which is why I still play Asheron's Call -- a single lifetime purchase for $10 / account and you get have a larger world with 100x the content of most other MMO's out there. Not a dime to spent from there on out. In fact, since the game was Turbine's first endeavor back in '99, they don't even have the infrastructure to support micron transactions or even tiered services.

Speaking of AC, check this out. It's the story of how AC and Turbine came to be:

I do have to say... I certainly missed my calling on this one here. I'm sure I spotted an empty couch that would have been perfect for me to crash on back then.
